What is Finsterland?

Finsterland, in english you can say Darkland, is a role-playing game for three or more players. It is set in a world that resembles 19th and 20th century Europe, but is adorned with magic, monsters and revolutionary technologies. Finsterland is a continent in this world.

What is special about this world?

Finsterland is located in a world that is in a state of upheaval. The old emperor is dead, the new one is young and inexperienced, the electors are hungry for power.
The civil war has left Finsterland in a chaotic state. The common people cling to their old values, cultivate age-old traditions and continue to live in medieval conditions. At the same time, however, technological development is progressing ever more rapidly: there are steam engines, railroads, telegraphs and skyscrapers, just as there were here. But there is also magic, clockwork-controlled, almost thinking machines and robotic prostheses that give the disabled the chance to be whole again.

Finsterland is now at a fateful point. The corset of social constraints threatens to burst as new forms of society come into fashion. Huge airships and the smoke of factories darken the sky. Powerful magicians, greedy politicians and secret conspirators – each faction is trying to get the biggest piece of the pie.

The big question is: Will a time of peace and progress come, or will the world shatter in blood and fire?

Only the heroes the players invent can save this world!

What characters are there?

Do you like playing fighters? How about a dramatic hussar or a hardened veteran? Do you see yourself more in the footsteps of Sherlock Holmes? Then choose a brilliant detective or take the opposite position as a cunning master thief. Would you like to savor the special features of Finsterland? We have mysterious magicians and bizarre machinators on offer for you. Prefer a person of science? Why not a talented engineer? Or something completely different? How about charming dilettantes or dazzling brigands?

There are a total of nine character models in the basic rulebook that you can use as a guide, but the basic rule is: you can play anything you like.
